No Pain No Gain

Everybody has their own desire to make their life become happy but to reach it, we must work hard. Like some people said “no pain no gain”. The effort is very important in other to gain our will. Sometimes there are some people who never care with that so they ended in failure. It happened when I was in elementary school. I was chosen by teacher to join contest but I lost because of my laziness.
In other to make the representative of the school gained good achievement, the teachers gave course every day before the contest. The course was given after the school so it could not disturb the schedule of school. When the course was given, I did not care what the teacher said.  I did not really pay attention to the course. I just sat quietly without understood anything.  I never showed my effort. The teacher often gave homework but I did not try to solve even I cheated to finish it from the other representatives. Besides that, there were books which had been given by the teacher but I rarely red it.
In the afternoon after the course, I had much spare time to study but I didn’t. I didn’t use my time wisely. I never concerned with the competition. Frequently my friends invited me to play and I simply accepted. I played marbles, rubbers, and kites. I consciously do activity that I should decrease because of competition. 
At that time, my ego was very high. I felt that I had become smart boy without learning. Although there were some friends who participated in the contest invited me to study together but I refused. Because of my overconfident, I rarely studied or tried to find information about material that might be appearing when the contest began. My parents often reminded me to study but I foolishly ignored even I spent my time for not important things.
When the contest started, I felt very confident, although I didn’t learn anything. When I started working on the question, I could not do most of the questions. My overconfidence felling suddenly broke. When the result announced, I was stuck in the last rank. I was very shame. I realized this was my fault. I was very lazy, did not use my time wisely to study and I was overconfident.
